Automatic barriers / car park barriers
Used predominantly for controlling traffic at the entry to parking facilities and commercial properties, automatic rising arm barriers are available for entrances from under 3 mtrs wide up to 7 mtrs wide. As a general rule – The shorter the boom, the faster the barrier. High speed parking barriers allow fast access to busy entrances and are an efficient way of ensuring that only authorised vehicles gain access to secured sites.
An entrance on to the highway will often employ car park barriers positioned behind a pair of security gates within the secured area. The gates secure the property outside of business hours. When the gates are opened the automatic barriers control traffic through the entrance during business hours. A wide range of control options ensure a barrier system can be tailored to suit your requirements. Barriers can be controlled by drivers from within their vehicles via pedestal mounted controls including card readers & intercoms systems. (Wireless Intercoms can connect the entrance directly with a telephone in reception or elsewhere from where the barrier can be wirelessly controlled)
Alternatively the barrier can be controlled via simple push buttons and key switches used by security personnelat the entrance. The same controls can be used to authorise vehicles leaving the secured area, or a free exit loop can be used to detect the approach of vehicles and allow free passage to those leaving the site.
For long term reliability we recommend high duty barriers fitted with fixed tip rests (boom supports) to withstand the rigors of busy commercial entrances. Whether you require a single barrier with a simple push button control system, or multiple entry and exit car park barrier system with linked controls your specialist Electricgatequote.co.uk contractor will be able to advise on suitable equipment and provide you with a quote for supply and installation.
Rising Bollards Automatic Bollards
Electric security bollards prevent the passage of vehicles and provide a robust ‘anti-ram’ system that a rising arm barrier cannot achieve. Unlike a car park barrier a rising bollard will stop a vehicle in it’s tracks.
Automated rising bollards are available in different sizes and can be controlled in the same way as car park barriers, using card reader systems and intercoms. The number of bollards required will be dependent on the entrance width (We would recommend a maximum spacing of 1200mm). Automatic bollards should descend quickly on command to minimise any impact hazard.
It is important that safe bollard installations are carefully planned to control the speed and angle of approaching vehicles. Safety loops must be employed either side of bollards to prevent accidents and traffic light control is recommended for multi user entrances.
We recommend that electric bollards are only fitted in well drained positions and that suitable drainage is installed when excavation for the bollards is carried out. A well installed rising bollard system will offer an impassable barrier to vehicles and offer long term reliability.
A specialist installer will be able to carry out a survey and provide you with advice and a quote for a suitable system. Your Electricgatequote.co.uk specialist will be happy to offer technical advice concerning automatic bollards and controls.
